Ordering a Memorial Fingerprint Pendant After a Loss
Share
If you're here, you've probably lost someone.
You may have a fingerprint somewhere — on a card from the hospital, in an old letter, on a piece of jewellery they wore. You may not have anything physical at all, just photos. You may be reading this late at night, unsure if this is something you actually want to do, or how to do it.
That’s completely normal.
We make these pieces every week, and one thing we’ve learned is this: there’s no perfect way to begin. Most people simply start by sending a photo.
What You Might Already Have
Most people arrive with one of these:
- A fingerprint card from the hospital or funeral director
- An old fingerprint kept in a drawer for years
- A fingerprint already engraved on an old ring or pendant
- A phone photo of a print
- A scanned image
- A screenshot sent through WhatsApp
- Sometimes only photos of jewellery or paperwork
If you can photograph it, we can engrave it.
You Don’t Need a Kit
A lot of people assume they need to order a special kit or create a new print.
You usually don’t.
Most memorial fingerprint jewellery we create begins with a simple phone photo. No moulds. No ink kits arriving in the post. No complicated instructions during an already difficult time.
We keep the process simple because it should feel manageable, not overwhelming.
What Happens After You Send the Image
Once you send the fingerprint image, we carefully prepare it for engraving by hand.
Some prints arrive perfectly clear. Others are faint, old, partially worn, photographed in poor lighting, or rejected elsewhere. Every image is different.
Our job is simply to bring out the detail as naturally and beautifully as possible, while keeping the original character of the print intact.
Choosing the Jewellery
Some people choose something small and private. Others want a piece they’ll wear every day.
Most customers choose sterling silver memorial jewellery because it feels timeless, durable, and personal. We make our pieces from thick sterling silver designed to last — not something delicate that wears down quickly over time.
You can also add:
- names
- handwriting
- dates
- paw prints
- short messages
- nose prints
- symbols with personal meaning
There’s No Rush
One of the most common things we hear is:
“I’m not sure if I’m ready yet.”
That’s okay.
Some people order immediately. Others wait months or years before deciding to turn a fingerprint into jewellery.
The print doesn’t become less meaningful with time.
If You’re Unsure Whether Your Image Will Work
You don’t need to figure that out alone.
Even prints that seem too faint, old, blurry, or difficult can often still become beautiful engravings. If you're unsure, you can simply send the image first and we’ll let you know honestly what’s possible.
Memorial jewellery should feel personal, calm, and thoughtfully made.
If you have a fingerprint photo and don’t know where to begin, start there. Most people do.
